Okay people, it’s show time. Â If you haven’t guessed, I tend to get fairly competitive at times, so I’m asking you all for one favor to ensure that “Inflexion Point” gets its props. Â Our friend Kris Dunn of Fistful of Talent has played on my love for college basketball by creating The Talent Management Blog Power Ratings. Â And given the season, he’s doing it March Madness style. Â

Kris has assembled thirty-two of the best HR bloggers to go head-to-head in several rounds of elimination. Â For the Round of 32, Inflexion goes up against Meg Bear’s consortium of technology bloggers over at Talented Apps. Â They’re a terrific group, but they must be destroyed by our behind-the-arch “threes” of HR wisdom. Â And guess what people? Â As of this moment, we’re slightly behind.

Here are the rules, per Mr. Dunn:

“The brackets have been set up to be as balanced as possible, and #1 Seeds were determined by the results of the last Talent Management Blogs Rankings over at Fistful of Talent. While we’ve listed each post submitted as part of the HR Carnival as a “highlight” to the side of the blog, we’re not mandating you vote for the strength of that individual post, because we know no one reads all the submissions to every Carnival. Instead, we’re simply asking you to vote for the blog you believe is the strongest in each matchup. If the post highlight influences that, more power to that blogger.”

So readers, let your mouses be your guide and click on over to vote. Â You’ll see an orange Quibblo screen load mid-page, and we’re Game 6 on the roster. Â

You are the best readers a blogger could ask for, so thanks for all your continued support and let’s take this thing to the next round! Â Rally caps…. I know we can win this.

On Saturday I discovered that I was “it”. Â You know, “it”, as in the game of tag from when we were children. Â Apparently there is a rousing game of HR blog tag going round and Jessica Lee of Fistful of Talent fame got me. Â Nice work Jessica.

And what does being “it” mean exactly? Â Among other things, it means that I need to tell my readers seven things they don’t already know about me. Â So strap yourselves in as I open the top secret dossier:

I have been moonlighting as a voice actor for nearly twenty years, including gigs for Southwest Airlines, Greyhound, HP, MetLife and others. Â You can laugh at my current demo track here.

I am the proud father of two dachshunds (Charley & Otto). Â They call the shots, but every once in a while we get revenge (see Halloween pics here). Â And Charley has his own “Wiener Blog” where he’s plotting a dachshund revolution, so watch your ankles.

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was raised on beer and brats until the age of six.

My brother is the world’s leading expert on White Papers. Â (And yes, the world does, in fact, need a leading expert on white papers.) Â See WhitePaperSource.com or WritingWhitePapers.com for more info.

I’ve completed six marathons and used to be a rock climbing enthusiast. Â

My best friend and I competed to see how many lives we could save during our undergrad years. Â We tied at 11 each when I pulled a drowning Australian to shore during graduation weekend.

My company’s name was actually penned by my good friend Phil Fersht of Horses for Sources fame. Â I don’t know if I stole it, per se, but I definitely jumped the gun on him.

So there you have it! Â I’m sure there are more bizarre bits of info I could share but that should whet your appetite. Â Have a great week and let’s keep the conversation going.

I know, clowns are scary.  But put your fears aside and embrace the laurels of the “HR Carnival“, a Bedouin blog post that summarizes all the best stories and opinions of over 20 of the best HR bloggers in the world.  Today’s post is #35 in the series and is hosted by Jon Ingham of Strategic Dynamics Consultancy Services in the UK.

There is a lot of great stuff in Jon’s summation, with a main topical thrust on HR bloggers who address the “sexiness” (or lack thereof) of HR:

“The need for HR to become more sexy is explained by Jessica Lee at Fistful of Talent. Jessica lists a number of areas in which development could make us sexier, for example by making more investment in social media. And helping up us gain a better understanding of this area are Larry Dunivan at Perceptive HR Technology, commenting on an earlier post by Jason Corsello, and Janet Walsh at Strategic Thinking.

Still confused by what sexy HR means? Well, some good examples of definitely not sexy HR are provided by HR Wench and Laurie Ruettimann at Team Building is for Suckers and some suggestions for being sexy in the downturn are offered by Frank Roche at KnowHR.”

I’d suggest you take some time to check out some of the links and other HR bloggers.  These are some of the knowledgeable, perceptive, insightful and even grumpy HR professionals producing interesting content on a regular basis.

Let’s keep the conversation going.Â
