When In Doubt, Do The Opposite

So you’ve read all the blogs, watched every network special, listened to the career pundits, coaches, counselors, authors, experts and even strangers. You’ve updated your wardrobe, customized your resume and submitted hundreds of cover letters. You’ve networked, cajoled, sidled and begged your way into interviews. But despite all these efforts, you still find yourself jobless, frustrated and at a complete loss as to why it’s not working.

The answer?

Do the opposite.

My good friend and colleague Kevin Dobbs of Montclair Advisors reminded me of this classically sage advice from George Costanza.  It may not land you a job at the Yankees, but it certainly can’t hurt. Enjoy a little comic relief and let’s keep the conversation going.

Classic stuff, and actually not a bad approach to many issues I would say. Thanks for the Monday afternoon laugh!

The show about “nothing” was really the show about everything. We think we can’t do things because we have watched them fail, even before they are presented. Most of us should start doing the opposite!
